Fellow Savoyards:

The Sudbury Savoyards, Inc., have now entered our second full fiscal year as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, charitable, tax-exempt corporation. In the new structure of Savoyard governance, it is important that we explicitly define membership to be able to formally and legally describe how the Company is managed. Last year, the Board of Trustees decided that the simplest, most inclusive means to do this was to institute a modest membership fee - dues - the amount of which will be determined each year by the Board.

Membership has a variety of privileges, the most important of which is the ability to help control the direction of the Company by participating at annual and interim meetings and the opportunity to serve on or just vote for the Board. Additional benefits of membership, still under discussion, may include decreased costs for participation fees, show shirts, DVDs, and photos; early ticket ordering; preferred seating at shows; and others yet to be considered.

One of the consequences of independent incorporation is that our expenses have gone up significantly. For example, we now need to pay for insurance and for legal and other professional fees, and we expect to be paying the Sudbury United Methodist Church for the space we use for storage, meetings, rehearsals, and other events. Membership fees help the Company buffer these substantial operating expenses.

At its inaugural meeting of this fiscal year, the Board voted to maintain last year’s membership fee of $25 per person for the current fiscal year (July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018), and to retain the status of Honorary Memberships for Savoyard Yeomen of Regard.

If you haven’t yet renewed or first taken up Savoyard membership for the coming year, please consider doing so as soon as possible. Your support will help stabilize the Company and keep you closer to the nearly six decades of Savoyard history we share. Instructions for activating or renewing your membership are below.
