Kathy Lague

Kathy Lague has a Twenty-five year history with The Sudbury Savoyards but considers herself a third generation Savoyard as both her father and grandfather were “Savoyards” by definition – her father in Pittsburgh and her grandfather in England.

Kathy started by paying her dues in the Sudbury chorus and quickly rose to center stage in the 1990 production of Ruddigore as Rose Maybud and has never looked back. In 1995 she made her directing debut on the other side of the boards as Co-Stage Director for The Mikado, moving on to both Stage and Music Director for the 1998 production of H.M.S. Pinafore and again in 1999 for Iolanthe. She continued to direct for The Sudbury Savoyards over the next decade, including Ruddigore, The Gondoliers, The Sorcerer, Patience, The Mikado, Iolanthe, Princess Ida, and last year’s 50th Anniversary production of H.M.S. Pinafore.

Quite often while directing, singing, or acting, Kathy has also taken on whatever needed to be done: Costume construction, Ticket Reservations, Box Office, Playbill Ads & Layout, Set Painting and construction, Score Production, Task List Chief, Choreographer, Page Turner, and even a term or two on the Board of Trustees.

Kathy has upheld the tradition of not auditioning the chorus members while her directorial efforts over the years have continuously raised the bar of the quality of Sudbury’s productions. As with many of our honored Yeomen, it is not just a long and faithful term of service that earned Kathy this honor, but the commitment, imagination and leadership during these years that characterize her participation, without which the Savoyards would not be the organization it is today.
