Meet the Directors!
Stage Director: Tess Klibanoff
Fresh off of debuting an operatic double-bill with Modern Vintage Opera, Tess Klibanoff, a stage director, choreographer, mezzo-soprano, and burlesque artist cannot wait to get started directing her first Gilbert and Sullivan production with The Sudbury Savoyards! Tess incorporates dance and body awareness into all of her work. As a director, her recent credits include Mozart’s Bastien und Bastienne, Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, Handel’s Rinaldo and Bach’s Coffee Cantata.
Music Director: Aldo Fabrizi
I’m thrilled to be music directing The Gondoliers, a sparkling gem in the Gilbert and Sullivan repertoire. With its effervescent score, rich harmonies, and a plot that somehow involves mistaken royalty, democratic gondoliers, and a Spanish duke with questionable parenting skills, it’s a show that delights on every level. Rehearsing the cast through its rapid-fire patter, complex ensembles, and exuberant finales is no small feat—but it’s the best kind of musical workout. I can’t wait to share the heart, humor, and glorious absurdity of The Gondoliers with our audience.
